About YouTring's Features & Registration to YouTring
Q1. What is Youtring?
Youtring is an application integrated with many dynamic features to connect people with each other. It enables people to effortlessly do audio and video conferencing, see and download videos, send messages, talk, call, chat, download interesting games, join and create communities and enjoy many more features. Youtring also includes presence and notification features to keep you updated when your contacts are online and lets you know their current status.

Q2. What is the difference between Youtring and any other Messenger?
Youtring is a fully loaded entertainment software that brings to you not only free and cost-effective calling, but also various other entertainment features like TV streaming, community feature, video uploading, voice-video-text chat, sending SMS messages and playing games online. Hence, it is unlike any other messenger which provides only a communicative interface.

Q3. Who is Tringer?
All our registered users are Tringers. You will automatically become a Tringer once you register with YouTring. The Tringers enjoy a host of benefits which have been discussed in this FAQs section.

Q4. How will Youtring benefit home and business users?
For the home users, Youtring improves their ability to stay connected with families and friends. For businesses, Youtring improves relationships with customers and partners and enhances communication among employees. A better quality communication experience featuring phone-call quality voice and high-quality video is provided so that conversing over the internet is not only economical but also effective.
Q5. Do I need to register to use YouTring?
Yes, you need to register with Youtring to use its features. You can register directly from the Website or after downloading and installation of the YouTring software, you can register through the application itself. Registration is free.
Q6.How to make an account on Youtring?
  • Click on the 'Register' button on the Youtring site
  • A registration form will appear where the user enters the details to register to the application.
  • Click submit button to submit the form.
  • Use 'Reset' button to make changes to the form.
  • An email containing a verification link will be sent to the Registrant's E-mail ID .
  • The user must click on the verification link to complete the registration process.
  • Now the user can login into the application and can access all the features of Youtring.

Q7. Why am I getting errors in registration?
Check for the following:
  • Make sure that you have typed in the correct e-mail ID in a proper format (e.g. johnsmith@vsn.com)
  • Check that you have chosen a password and entered it twice correctly.
  • Ensure that the username you have chosen is available.

Q8. I have registered on the application but have not received any conformation mail yet?
If you have not received a confirmation e-mail, it is possible that you mistyped your e-mail address when you registered for Youtring. In this case, you need to register again and make sure you are entering the correct e-mail ID. You are requested to check your SPAM folder as well.
Q9 . Getting problem in starting Youtring?
You need the following to use Youtring:
  • A web browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, Netscape 7.1 or later, Mozilla 1.6 or later, running on Microsoft Windows (NT, 2000, Millennium, Vista).
  • An Internet connection (256Kbps or faster recommended).
  • Popups enabled for this web site if you are using the popup blocker.

Q10. How can I retrieve my login password?
If you forgot your password, you can retrieve it. To do this, go to the login page and click on Forgot Password and follow the instructions.
  • When you click on Forgot Password, a form appears.
  • Enter your email Id on which you are registered with YouTring.
  • You will get your password via an email on your email ID.

Q11. Can I invite my friends to join Youtring?
Yes, you can invite your friends to join Youtring and enjoy the features of Youtring. Invite Now
Follow these steps to invite your friends:
  • You can select the Invite friend option on the left side of your Profile screen.
  • A window displays while logging in, from where you can get the list of e-mail clients.
  • Select one of the e-mail clients where you have an account and login using your ID and password.
  • As you click on the button, you will be able to upload your address book. From the address book, you can select the e-mail IDs of your friends and send invitations to them to join the Youtring Cafe.
  • You can send Invitation requests to more than one person at a time by selecting many people from the list.
  • An invitation request will go to all the selected persons from the list on their specific E-mail IDs.
  • That person needs to accept the invitation to join the Youtring Café and enjoy all the Youtring feature.

Q12. How can I sign out from Youtring?
  • To prevent interference of others in using your account, you need to exit from your Youtring account each time you access it.
  • To sign out completely, click the "Sign Out" link at the top left of the Youtring main window.
  • This way, another user cannot access to your account. This is especially important if you use a public or shared computer.

Q13. I am a registered user but unable to login!
Check that your are entering the correct username and password. It may be possible that the Caps Lock may be on, which can lead to non-access. The other reason may be internet connection breakage or low speed.

Q14. When I login the application, an empty dialog box appears or the icon doesn't display on the screen?
This problem may occur when the Internet connection is slow.

Q15. How can I purchase credits from YouTring?
The Youtring e-Voucher provides you with an interface to do online recharge of your Youtring Phone, SMS and AV Chat from anywhere and at any time.
To access the e-voucher feature:
  • Select eVoucher from the menu at the top of the Youtring main window.
  • You get the different plans of Phone, SMS and AV Chat.
  • You can buy or recharge your Youtring account as per your choice of credit.

Q16. What is the utility of Send email?
Send Email is feature in Youtring that enables Tringers to exchange messages with other people over the internet who are in your contact list. If the person you want to talk to is online, you can send message instantly and easily. If they are not online, you can still send a text message that they will receive when they login.

  • To use this feature, the user needs to click this option. A compose window displays where the user can write this message.
  • Enter the text into the box.
  • Select the contact from the contact list.
  • Click on Send button to send the message.

Hardware & Software Requirement
Q1. What are the minimum system requirements to use YouTring?
Your computer must meet the following system requirements to use the Youtring widget.
Processor : Minimum 500MHz - Recommended Pentium IV
Operating System : Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, Millennium,XP, Vista
RAM : Minimum 128MB - Recommended 256MB
Hard Disk : Minimum 120MB free space on your hard drive
Sound : Installed Audio drivers, Headset with Microphone
Webcam : You need a webcam to avail the video calling facility
Flash Player : Version 8.0 or above [ mandatory]
Internet Connection : Minimum 128kbps is required
Browser : IE 6.0 or higher
Q2. Does Microsoft Vista support the Youtring application ?
Yes, Microsoft Vista supports the Youtring application.

Q3. How to upgrade to the new version of Youtring?
The registered user need not upgrade the program manually. The Youtring application will prompt all Tringers automatically about the version update as soon as it is available.

Q4. Where do I get help to resolve my queries?

Q5. Whenever I open the Youtring application, it freezes on my screen and shows no activity!
The Internet speed may be slow. 256Kbps is the recommended speed for running this application.

Download & Installation Process
Q1. How can I download YouTring?
  • Open the Youtring website i.e. www.Youtring.com
  • Click on the download link (i.e. Download Now) to start downloading Youtring.
  • Save the Youtring setup on your computer's hard disk.

Q2. How do I Install YouTring?
  • Locate the downloaded file on your computer, double click on the Youtring setup from its current location.
  • A Youtring Setup wizard window displays.
  • Click on the Next Button to continue the installation. Follow the instructions as they appear. Identify the installation path or browse the folder where you want to install the file.
  • Setup creates the program's shortcuts in the selected specified start menu folder.
  • Select the additional features you would like to add-on while installing the Youtring application. Click on the Next button.
  • Click Install button to install Youtring on your computer.
  • Click finish button to complete the installation.

Q3. How do I uninstall YouTring?
To uninstall YouTring:
  • Go to the start menu and click on it.
  • Select programs, and then YouTring from the next menu.
  • The YouTring application menu would open, from there, select the 'uninstall YouTring' option.
  • Follow the directions thereon to completely remove the YouTring software from your computer.

Phone (Make international calls at lowest rates)
Q1. What is the use of the Youtring Phone?

The Youtring Phone is a lively and dynamic feature for unlimited PC-to-phone calling to stay connected to your near and dear ones at a very low cost.
The Youtring Phone is an Internet telephone service. Anyone with an Internet connection can make use of this feature to make short or long distance calls. Just sign into Youtring, purchase credits through the recharge option and you can immediately start making calls using the Youtring Phone.


Q2. How can I make a call?
Follow these steps to make a call:
  • Click on Phone icon in the main window.
  • Dial the phone number including the country code and area code(e.g. 44-793988xxxx (UK))
  • Click on the Dial pad to enter the phone number.
  • Click on the green button to initiate the call.
  • The receiver will receive the call directly on his/her phone.
  • To remove the number from the screen, click on the button.
  • You can also increase / decrease the volume.

Q3. How can I recharge my Phone account?
First, click on the option from the Youtring Phone screen. By clicking this option, you will directly link to our website. From there, you can recharge your Youtring Phone and can see the different call plans also.

Q4. What is Tring Book?
The Tring Book maintains the details of all your contacts on the phone. Any Tringer can add other Tringers and their contacts to the Tring Book. Please click on Tring Book and follow the instructions to add your contacts.

Q5. I am having problems in hearing the called or calling party's voice!
  • Check that your system audio input levels are high enough.
  • Try to increase your volume control of your speaker.
  • Check if your headphones are working properly and are well connected.

Q6. The other user is getting problems in hearing my voice!
  • Check that your system audio output levels are high enough.
  • Try to increase the volume of your microphone.
  • Check that your microphone is working properly and well connected.
  • Check your firewall settings whether it is blocking voice packets or not.

Q7. When I speak, I get my own voice echoed back!
  • Check the sound level of the headphone/speaker and microphone.

Q8. Can I get my call record details?
Yes, you can see your call record details (dialed number, start or end time of the call, Call duration and rate) by clicking on the call list from Youtring Phone screen.

Q9. How can I check the call rates?
Here are various ways to view the rates. Click the rates option from the Phone and view the rates. You can also see the list of our rates at www.youtring.com.

Q10. I have forgotten the country code, how can I get it?
If you do not remember the country code, you can select the country from the drop down menu provided on the phone screen; the code automatically comes on your number screen. You only need to enter the area code and the phone number if you already selected the Country.

Mingle (Free Voice, Video & Text Chat and Video Conferencing)
Q1. What is Mingle?
Mingle allows you to freak-out with its un-limited voice video and text chat which is absolutely free for all our Tringers.

Q2. How can I start chatting with my Friends?
Follow the below-mentioned steps:
  • From the Youtring browser, select Mingle and enter the chat room.
  • Add your friends to your contact list
  • Select your friends whom you want to chat from "Online user"
  • Double click on the user who is available
  • A window will open as shown in the screen above.
  • Enter the message into the text box and start chatting with your friend.

Q3. How do I add contacts in my contact list?
  • Select a Youtring user from the online list.
  • To add a person from the Contact list, click on the button.
  • A Contact widow will open where you can enter the user's email ID and message.
  • Click on the invite button to send a request to the selected user.
  • Automatically, a request will go to the selected user of Youtring.
  • The Youtring user needs to accept the request for you to add him to your list.

Q4. How can I block someone else from my chat list?
To block the user, select user from contact list and click on the button to remove and block him from your list.

Q5. How to use Video Conferencing?
  • To do video conferencing, you need to have a webcam and headphone attached to your PC.
  • Select the user from the user's list.
  • Click on the button to start conferencing with the selected user.

Q6. How can I add my friends in my contact list?
  • Select a Youtring user from the online list.
  • Click Invite button to add him as your friend on your list.
  • A screen appears as shown below.
  • Enter the email ID of the person whom you want to add.
  • Type the text into the message box.
  • Click invite button to send a request to the person.
  • Click Cancel button to discard the request.
  • This request goes to the person and then person can accept and reject your request.

Q7. In Mingle, can I chat with many users at a time?
Yes, a registered user can chat with many people at one go, whoever is available in the chat room.
Q8. How do I know when I've received a message?
The messages will automatically open on your desktop in boxes. To respond, just type in the empty area in the bottom of the box, and press the Enter key.
Q9. How do I delete my call list?
You can delete the contact list by going to the "My contact list", selecting all contacts and clicking on the button to delete your call list.

Cafe (Widen your friend circle)
Q1. How can I send Tring notes to my friends?
  • To send the Tring Notes to your friends, open your friends list. Under your friends' names is the option for sending Tring Notes.
  • You can see the Tring notes text box where you can enter the text.
  • Click on the Post button to post the tringer notes to your friend.

Q2. How can I edit my profile?
It is very easy to edit your profile in Cafe. You find the 'Edit Profile' option when you open the café feature on the YouTring browser. Simply click on the edit option and update your profile by entering the details of the field that you wish to alter.
Q3. How can I search for my friend in Youtring café?
Follow the steps to search your friend:
  • To search for your friend on Youtring Cafe, you need to enter the name of the person in the Search box on the top right of the café screen.
  • To make your search more accurate, use the 'Advanced Search' feature which comes at the bottom of the search results display page.
  • Once you get the search results, you can navigate to your friends, add them, send Tring notes etc.

Q4. How can I view my friends list?
To see complete list of your friends, click on the Friends option on the left side of your profile.

Q5. How can I invite my friends to join Youtring Cafe?
Following are the steps to invite your friends:
  • Select the Invite friend option on the left side of your Profile screen.
  • A window displays, from where you can get a list of mail account providers.
  • Select one of your mail accounts and access to the mail account by entering your login Id and password.
  • As you click on the button, you will be able to upload your address book. From the address book, you can select the E-mail ID of that particular person and send an invitation to him/her to join the Youtring Cafe.
  • You can send Invitation requests to more than one person at a time by selecting many people from the list. .
  • An invitation request will go to the selected persons from the list on their specific E-mail ID.
  • A person needs to accept the invitation and able to join the Youtring Café and can enjoy the all Youtring feature.

Q6. How can I accept and decline friend requests?
  • When you login to the Youtring café you receive an invitation or friend request, which has been sent by another person. Now it is up to you to accept and decline the request.
  • Click accept in their friend request to accept the request.
  • If you don't want to include a person into your friends list, simply reject the request.

Q7 . How can I add a friend to my list?
  • To add a friend, first find your friend by clicking on the search option.
  • Enter your friend's details in the search box; from the search result you will get the list of Youtring Users who match the profile given by you.
  • Select your friend's profile and click "Add as a friend" on the left sidebar from the profile.
  • You can send your message along with the request to your friend.

Q8. How can I add pictures to the My Photos section?
You can upload your pictures in Youtring Café. Follow the steps:
  • Click on 'photos' on the left sidebar on your profile or select from the top of the panel prom Youtring Cafe.
  • Click Add image to upload the picture.
  • Select a photo by using the Browse button in the image box
  • Click on 'upload photo' and the photograph will be uploaded. You can also add a brief description about the photograph.

Q9. How can I delete photos?
To delete the photos, follow the steps:
  • Click 'photos' on the left sidebar of your profile.
  • Select the picture which you would like to delete.
  • Click on the 'remove' option to delete the photo.

Q10. How can I keep my photos secure?
You can stop access to view your photos. Follow the step make your account secure:
  • Click on 'Photos' from the left sidebar under Edit Profile.
  • You can set the permission to view your photos.
  • Click on 'Manage gallery' and select manage option by clicking on it.
  • To make your pictures secure, Select the option and click on the 'Update' button on the screen.
  • Only your friends, who are on your friends list, can view your photos.

Q11. How can I create a Group?
You can create groups of your interest. Follow these steps to create a group:
  • Click on 'Create Group' to make a new group.
  • Enter the details of your group in the text box and click on the 'Create Group' Button.

Q12. How can I join a group?
  • Click on 'Group Categories' to see the list of groups.
  • Select the group of your interest and click the related link from the list.
  • You can view details of the particular group and click on the button to join the group.

Q13. What is a forum?
Forum is place for online discussions, where you can initiate any topic of your interest and raise your query. Any Youtring member can submit a post related to the query.

Q14. What is the blogs section in Youtring?
Youtring Blogs is a place where you can post information or your knowledge related to personal or official matters. You can write blogs on an ongoing basis, share your personal thoughts with Youtring Users so visitors can add on their views.

TV (View Live TV Channels)
Q1. How can I watch TV on my PC?
Click on the TV feature on the YouTring browser. Select your preference. Automatically, a channel list will be displayed. Click on the desired channel to watch it.

Q2. Do I need a TV card to run this feature?
No extra hardware is required to access the TV feature. There is no need of a PC TV card because the TV channels are streamed through your internet connection. You just require a high speed broadband connection. The TV feature comes with the Youtring software, you only need to register on Youtring and you can enjoy your favorite channels without paying any bills.

Q3. How can I choose the TV channels?
  • Select the category and you choice of channel (music, News, Weather, Movies, and Sports etc).
  • You can see the list of channels.
  • Select any channel from the list and you will be able to watch it via live streaming.

Q4. I am unable to hear any sound from the Internet TV after running this feature!
In the TV feature, you do not need to change any sound settings. Please check that your system volume control is set correctly, check your basic system sounds are working, and that the volume control is not too low or muted.

Q5. When I select the channel and play it, I see the ready option in screen but nothing works?
"Ready" indicates that Internet TV is ready to play the channel. Some stations can be offline due to their server overload, network congestion and problems in the internet connection (speed is too slow).

Q6. Whenever I play the channels, it shows buffering percentage
Buffering percentage shows the ratio of uploading channels from broadcasting stations. Sometimes it takes time to upload channels because of the Internet traffic and problems in the station server broadcasting.

Q7. I am not able to play channels on the TV feature?
  • If you are getting problems in watching TV channels, check and make sure that your internet connection is working with good speed.
  • Some firewalls can block the receiving streaming media.
  • Sometimes, the internet connection is slow due to congestion in the network.
  • Some stations can be offline due to their servers' overload or network congestion.

Q8. Some channels are not showing clearly!
The video quality of channels depends on the broadcaster's bandwidth of channels. Lower bandwidth can affect the qualities of videos.
Q9. Can I see more than one channel at once?
No, Youtring TV doesn't allow you to watch more than one channel at a time.

Q10. How can I see channels in the full screen mode?
  • Double click on TV screen for full screen view
  • Press "Esc" to exit from this mode.

Q11. Do I have to pay for viewing the TV channels?
No, the TV feature at YouTring is free.

Games (Play and enjoy the most interesting Games)
Q1. How can I play Games in YouTring?
  • When you click on the games section on the YouTring browser, you get the list of games.
  • From the list, you can select the game of your choice.
  • Click on play option to start playing the game.

Q2. How can I mute the sounds?
  • Click on the game menu.
  • Select the game and click on it to start playing.
  • Click on the sound option to mute the sound.
  • Click again on sound option to un-mute it.

Q3.I am not able to download the games!
  • If you are not able to download a game, make sure that your browser is configured properly.
  • Java plug-ins must be installed on your system for Youtring Games to work.

Q4. What are the basic requirements to play games in Youtring?
The basic software required to play Games is:
  • Windows 98/2000/Me/XP
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer/Mozilla
  • Java Enabled
  • Macromedia Flash Player-9.0 or higher

SMS (Send Messages to Mobile Phones or PC any where and anytime)
Q1. How do I send SMS messages?
  • Sign into Youtring.
  • Click on the SMS feature from the panel.
  • An SMS window will appear.
  • Enter the mobile number into the mobile number text box(e.g.793988xxxx (UK)).
  • Type your message into the message box.
  • Enter your unique code (code is generated by service provider) into the given text box.
  • Click on 'submit' to send the message.
  • If you wish to change the message or details, click on the Reset button to make the changes.

Q2. How would my friend get the message?
Your friend will receive the message at his/her phone (your mobile number will be visible on his/her mobile screen), and will be able to message you back on your mobile phone.

Q3. Is it necessary to type the captcha code?
Yes, it is mandatory to type the captcha code in to the Text box. This unique code is for verification purpose.

Q4. Any limitations to enter characters to the typed message?
Yes. You can enter not more than 158 characters to send a message. The message box will not take more than 158 characters.

Q5. Do I need to enter the country code?
Yes, you need to include the country code with your mobile phone (e.g. 91<phone number> for India). so that the service provider can verify the area from where you are sending the message

Q6. Sometime I get problems in sending the SMS?
  • If your SMS balance is not enough or low, you can face this problem. So immediately recharge your Youtring account at www.youtring.com .
  • This problem may occur if your account has not been activated.
  • High traffic congestion in the internet connection or server.

Video (Enjoy viewing, sharing and uploading videos)
Q1. What is the video feature in Youtring?
Youtring video is the best way to keep yourself entertained. You can watch a wide variety of videos posted on Youtring. Here you can watch, upload and share videos with other users. You can upload your favorite video and can share it with different people and friends.

Q2. How do I play videos in the Youtring application?
  • To play a video on your screen, you need to click the video button from the Youtring Panel.
  • A video screen will open where you can play and watch the video.
  • Select the video from the screen
  • Simply clicking the play button available below the selected video icon will initiate the streaming.

Q3. How can I upload videos?
  • Click on 'upload video' option from the list.
  • A screen appears where you can enter the description of the video.
  • Click on 'Attach files' and you can browse and upload the video.
  • Click on the 'submit' button to upload button
  • You can share the uploaded videos with other Youtring users.
  • Use the 'Show to' option to keep the video as private or public.

Q4. How many videos I can upload?
As many as you want to. There is no limitation on the number of videos you can upload.

Q5. How can others see my videos?
When you upload a video, under the 'show to' option, select Public. Your video will then be available for public viewing.

Q6. Do I need to be registered with YouTring to upload videos?
Yes. You need to be registered with YouTring to upload videos.

Q7. How can I view the videos?
As you click on the thumbnail image of video on the Youtring Videos, you will be able to watch videos on your screen. You can select the video of your choice from the list available with Youtring videos.

Q8. What kind of hardware and software are required to run the Youtring videos?
  • A media player which plays the videos.
  • A sound card and speakers/headphones on your computer.

Q9. Is there any size limit to upload the videos?
Yes! The size of videos should not exceed 200 MB.

Q10. How can I see the videos in "full screen" mode?
  • Double click on the video player to see the video in full screen mode.
  • Press "ESC" key on your computer to get back to the original screen.

Q11. When I see the videos, I am not able to hear any sound!
  • Check the volume control of your computer.
  • Increase the volume of the video player on your screen.
  • Check that you have not muted the sound.

Q12. Why does the video stop suddenly?
  • This problem may occur due to internet connection speed. To view best quality of videos, you need a broadband connection of more than 256Kbps.
  • High traffic on server may affect the speed and quality of the video.

Q13. I am facing problems in watching the videos!
  • Firewall, security setting and blocking of the site can block the streaming and can create problems.
  • High internet traffic and low connection speed can also result in the videos not playing correctly.

Youtring Task Manager (Reminds you of important days and helps you organize)
Q1. How does the Task manager work?
By using Youtring Task Manager, you can remember important appointments or events. You need to enter the event details in your calendar and Youtring reminds you about the event, when the day and time comes.

Q2. How can I fix an event in the Task Manager?
  • Open the Task manager from drop down menu of Tring Pad and select the day from the calendar.
  • Enter the event of that specific day.
  • The YouTring Task Manager will be reminding you automatically on that specific day.

Q3. Can I fix more than one event?
Yes, you can fix events on different days by entering details on the particular days in the calendar. You will get alerts on those particular days.

Q4. How can I get alerts?
As you open the YouTring Task Manager, automatically you will get alerts for any event on that particular day unless and until you disable the alerts.

Q1. What is the use of Tring world? What kind of web sites I can visit through this option?
